About Wave
Wave is a hand-wave hello. Not a fire, not a heart — just the small, universal gesture you make when you spot someone across the room and want to say hi. We built an app around that gesture, because meeting people nearby shouldn't feel like shopping.
What Wave is
Wave is a location-based social app. It shows you real people near you, the communities they've built, and the meetups they're planning — and it gives you one honest way in: wave. If they wave back, you're Wave Contacts and the conversation starts.
How it works
- Wave. Browse a deck of people nearby and send a wave — or a super wave when you really mean it. A mutual wave opens the chat.
- Join. Communities are groups built around interests, each with a group chat and live audio rooms. Meetups are real plans — see how far one is, tap Join, and you're in.
- Show up. The map ties it together: people, meetups, communities, and treasure chests scattered around your city.
What Wave is not
- Not pay-to-win. Coins are earned by using the app — daily tasks and treasure chests — never bought. A Boost costs coins, not money.
- Not an ad machine. No third-party ads, and no tracking you across other apps or websites.
- Not anonymous chaos. Wave is 18+, photos and videos are screened before they appear, verification is available to prove you're real, and report & block work everywhere.
Where we are
Wave is currently in private beta, iPhone first. If you'd like to know when it opens up, or you just want to say hi, write to support@wave-social.com — a human reads it.
